Michelin CrossClimate 2 Extended Winter Road Test FWD Crosstour
Переглядів 87 тис.2 роки тому
Thought I would share my initial experience with Michelin’s All Weather Cross Climate 2 Tires. Drove over and through various winter conditions. I give them a 4.5 out of 5. Tires performed well in most winter conditions. Found they struggled a bit on pure Icy roads, but snow packed and even icy roads with snow on them they performed exceptionally well. I would say Ice performance is the differe...

      I’m at the end of my third winter with these and they’ve held up very well, still have excellent tread, there may be some slight snow and ice performance degradation, the traction control comes on a little more often than before, but other than that I’ve gotten around pretty well, probably have over 35,000 miles on them. Tread depth is still excellent. Wet and slush performance is still excellent. No regrets

    I considered CC2 but they would be too close in role to my dedicated set of Blizzaks DMV2. I opted to get longer lasting, quieter, better dry/wet grip Defender 2 for my 9 - 10 months out of the year. I can quickly swap tires out at the first forecast of snow/ice. So if it's a warm winter I don't bother swapping out. Takes me about 1.5 hrs to get them out, air them up evenly and then swap them out for both our vehicles. Air compressor with impact makes short work of it.

    • @raynman67

      They do really well on snowpack, it’s icy conditions where they tend to struggle a tad, but once your going on icy roads they handle well if that makes sense. But snow packed roads, starting and stopping isn’t really a problem

    Excellent real world review sans glitz, stupid music and a loud overbearing personality. Good job. I just bought these tires and they're amazing. Well I’m going into my third season, dry roads feels really good, you might notice a little noise at first, probably as with any new tire, done a couple 3000+ road trips on them and did really well, averaged 30.5 miles per gallon from Eagle to Pittsburgh PA, pretty good for a V6. Car does have VCM so a good part of the time it’s running on 3 cylinders. Best tire I’ve had on wet roads. Just guessing cause my receipt from the tires isn’t handy, I’ve got about 30K to 35k on them and still have tons of tread life left.

    I have been using them for over 2 1/2 years now on my 16 toyota Camry Hybrid and they are the absolute best in snow. All front wheel drive. I have had just once in my parking space due to ice slip me into the small gutter up against the sidewalk. No fault of the tires it is total wet ice underneath the snow. My 1st set I bought for $138 bucks and now I need a new full set for the next upcoming winter and tires stores wanted upwards of $1,100 bucks for a set as high as $250 bucks plus another almost $150 just for them to put it on. I did buy them this time, but from Costco! a total of $756 bucks. No addition fees whatsoever! The downside is they are slow getting the tires and putting them on. Taking almost 2 weeks! They will do repairs, but what a wait.

    Seems to be great tires from all the UA-cam reviews I've seen. So I'm looking to get them put on my son's 2013 V6 Accord. We live in Central Jersey and we get our fair share of snow. Nothing like where you're at, but it's more like a Black Ice on the roadways is what we get. So these should come in handy. And with the discounts that I'm seeing at Costco's and BJ's, the price is similar to some, (all be it good) cheaper tires. You can't go wrong I guess. Great review. Give us a sense of how these tires handle in the snow. I just got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's put on about a week ago and have put on like 200 miles. They feel good compared to the Toyo's I had. For me it was a toss up between these an and the Pilot Sports. Decide to go with the Pilot Sports because I don't drive that much in inclement weather and they were about $$150-200 cheaper for my 2019 Mazda CX GTR. But for my son who does more driving, I would like the safest tire I could get. Once again, great review. Best of luck!

    • @raynman67

      Thanks for the input, not everyone needs these types of tires, After using for 20,000 plus miles I’m most impressed by the wet road performance, so if you live in an area that receives a lot of rain, these tires would be a good option.

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67 Рік тому

      @@robert5008 0 and beyond that I know exactly who and when whomever owns an EV needs the charging station. These are level 1 charging stations. At best they add 2-4 miles of driving per hour. If I show up to work and need gas to go 2-4 miles, first I’m a pretty irresponsible person but where is my gas pump space that I can occupy for an hour or more to get me to the gas station. Oh and they are free to use. Were are the free to use gas pumps? So what if a EV that has plenty of charge but just want the convenience of parking in the spot shows up, parks all day and EV that needs a charge is unable to use the spot because it’s being occupied by an EV that’s near fully charged. Thats the actual reality of who parks in the EV spots. So maybe you should address that problem first because I’m occupying the space because I know for a fact that no one needs the spot, and it’s been my personal parking spot for over 25 years that I graciously allowed them to install EV stations at.

      Pretty sure I talked about traction control being on and when it engaged. I always have it on in the winter

    I have em on my Civic and they're amazing in snow. Good for at least 70K miles too.

    Why are you parked in an EV charging station space?

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67 Рік тому

      Because it’s private property, we own the EV charging systems, Thanks for attempting to virtue signal about it. Any Questions about the Tires?

    Would you buy them even if you already have dedicated winter tires knowing they'd be used mainly in the summer?

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67 Рік тому

      I would use the dedicated winter tires until they were worn, then I’d buy them. No sense in wasting a good tire.
